Because propane vapors are heavier than air, they concentrate in low areas. So, if the propane is released in an enclosed area (a house or a barn, for example), there is a potential for fire.

CAUTION: If you even think you think smell gas, it is imperative that you immediately get everyone away from the premises and CALL US from a neighbor’s house.

All propane leaks can be hazardous and only well trained persons should be involved in any clean-up, repair of propane appliances, etc. Remember that propane has no natural odor and that after it's produced and before it's shipped, the ODORANT is added -- PLEASE make sure that all members of your families are familiar with that odor. The name of it is ethyl mercaptan, and it smells like sulfur.

Service and safety are our top priorities, and the entire staff here at Shelby County Co-op is dedicated to achieving both the highest levels of customer satisfaction and ensuring your safety and comfort.

Your safety is important to us!

Don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions. We’re here to help make using propane safe and easy.
